Taking product knowledge to another level
The Steakist General Manager Hollie and Directors Andy and Janet met up in Elgin just outside Cape Town, South Africa to learn more about where our Pinot Noir comes from, and all the knowledge, expertise and science that goes into making the perfect wine.
They visited the Sutherlands vineyard where our Pinot Noir grapes are grown and met husband and wife team Chris and Ali who run the farm, and also visited Tom at Thelema wines which owns Sutherlands Farm and also make the wines in their Stellenbosch winery.
Of course, there was also the opportunity to taste many more wines whilst in the area! With finding a Chenin Blanc in mind, they tried many from both Thelma and Sutherlands and also Ken Forrester who is known to be the best Chenin Blanc wine maker in the world. Look out for a Chenin Blanc on our wine list menu soon.
Not many restaurant teams get the privilege of visiting the actual vines their wine comes from, especially when it’s halfway across the world, so with that we count ourselves extremely grateful and would like to thank Chris, Ali, Tom for their time and Paul from Enotria for helping to arrange the visits.
